Pastor William B. Lyons Jr. is a passionate preacher, community leader, and servant of God dedicated to transforming lives through faith, love, and service. As Senior Pastor of Greater New Hope Baptist Church in Reno, Nevada, he leads with a vision to Exalt the Savior, Equip the Saints, and Evangelize the Lost.
With a heart for outreach and restoration, Pastor Lyons has guided Greater New Hope through seasons of spiritual growth and community impact, launching initiatives that feed the hungry, support families, and strengthen faith. Beyond the pulpit, he is also the owner of Papa What You Cooking, a Southern-style restaurant known for “Cooking with Love.”

Maurice Walker
Deacon
Maurice Walker has faithfully served at Greater New Hope Baptist Church since March 1996. A devoted servant of God, he is passionate about showing kindness to everyone he meets and demonstrating the love of Christ in both word and deed.
Maurice finds inspiration in Ephesians 4:12, believing in the call to equip the saints for the work of ministry and to build up the body of Christ. He serves the Lord with gladness and humility, committed to helping Greater New Hope continue to grow in love, unity, and purpose.

Wesley LanCaster
Deacon
Wesley Lancaster has been a valued member of our church family since 2016. He faithfully serves as a Deacon and enjoys working alongside his fellow church members, particularly through the Kitchen Ministry, where he helps provide meals and create opportunities for fellowship within the congregation.
Wesley is a devoted husband and proud father of six children. Outside of church, he is a retired mixed martial arts fighter and currently works as a commercial plumber.
What Wesley appreciates most about our church is its people and the opportunity to serve others. He is also grateful for the leadership of our Pastor, especially his relationship with the Lord and steadfast commitment to following Christ.
One of Wesley’s favorite passages is Matthew 22:37–40, which teaches us to love God with all our heart, soul, and mind and to love our neighbors as ourselves. Wesley strives to live out these words through his faith, service, and relationships with others.

Carl Savely
Trustee Chairman
Carl began faithfully serving at Greater New Hope Baptist Church shortly after becoming a member, answering God’s call to serve others. During his early years, the parable of the Good Samaritan found in Luke 10:30–37 guided his service and inspired him to become a volunteer EMT and a member of the Mine Rescue Team in a small Colorado mining town.
As the seasons of his life changed, Carl came to understand that God provides many different opportunities and spiritual gifts through which His people can serve, as taught in 1 Corinthians 12:4–26.
Today, Carl enjoys using his God-given abilities in administration to help ensure the church complies with applicable corporate laws, avoids unnecessary conflicts with government agencies, and handles its administrative responsibilities with integrity and excellence. He also faithfully supervises the church’s Community Food Bank program, helping Greater New Hope serve individuals and families throughout the community.
